Outfit of the Day - January 31, 2014

Hello my fabulous readers! This week's outfit was what I wore to cheer on the Seattle Seahawks during the NFC Championship game. We had my parents over for good food and good company. All of my outfit is from Old Navy. I am wearing my Sweetheart jeans that were $2.90, my darker blue tank and my lime green hoodie, and my green socks with white keys on them. I am wearing my Origami Owl necklace from my husband and small gold hoop earrings. Hair is pulled back in a simple pony and natural makeup.
Hope you love this simple outfit like I do. They did win but I will be cheering for the Broncos in the Superbowl. Loves.

Wednesday Recipe - Breakfast Bowls

Hello my hungry readers. Today's recipe is breakfast bowls. I made these for the next morning to have breakfast and little ones for Aaron to have for breakfast before he goes to work. I made them and then froze them and then he just popped them into the microwave. 
Ingredients: 
4 slices of bacon, one small tube of country breakfast sausage, 2-3 potatoes, stick of butter, 1 onion, 1 tomato, 2 cups of grated cheese, salt and pepper, oregano, thyme, 3/4 cup of half and half, 6 eggs
                               
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
2. Cook the bacon
3. Brown the sausage
                                       
4. Bake the potatoes 
                                             
5. Butter the oven safe bowls
6. Chop up your onion and tomato
7. Grate your cheese
8. Cut up your bacon when it cools a little while
9. Cook your onions and potatoes in a skillet together with some salt and pepper until your onions are translucent
10. Mix your tomatoes in your a bowl with a little oregano and thyme 
11. Beat 3/4 cup of half and half with 6 eggs 
12. Take your buttered bowls and layer them: Potato/onion mixture, sausage, bacon, a little cheese, egg mixture (only fill it up half way with the egg mixture because if you put anymore it will run over), Tomato mixture and then grated cheese 
                                               
13. Place all bowls on a cookie sheet with sides 
14. Bake for 10-15 minutes, keep your eye on them, make sure the egg doesn't brown. 
15. Enjoy or freeze for later.

What's in my Purse?! :-)

Hello my wonderful readers! Today I thought I would do a What's in my Purse?! post. I love watching these on YouTube and also on blogs. There is something women love about snooping in other women's purses haha and I am no different. :-) 
 This is my purse, I got it at Charming Charlie's. I love it because it could be a daytime or nighttime purse. I love the gold accents on it and that it has a lot of pockets. I love that it has  a cross body strap.
I carry this cute little bag from Ulta in my purse for my little things. I have Ulta cucumber lotion, Ulta peach hand sanitizer, regular chapstick, a couple of hairties and a bobby pin, cough drops, Gas X strips, flossers, and lavender scented blotting papers.

This is all the stuff that is in the pockets of the my purse. I have my work name tag and car sick bracelets (I have been car sick my whole life and these are a life saver) in the back pocket of my purse. I have my headphones, tampons (every girl's must have!), a pen, and my car charger attachment in the zip pocket in the inside. In the small pockets in the inside of the purse I have my tissues, hair tie, a very small quad eye shadow (white, two pinks, and a purple Sugar and Sweet brand got it from Ulta for $0.49) , Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers, Mac lipstick in Angel (below), and Johnson's baby lotion (my hands love it and it reminds me of my baby niece). In my big pocket of my purse I have my fold up hair brush/mirror, coin purse my mom got me in South Korea, Treseme hair spray and my EOS mint lip balm.

This is my wallet also from Charming Charlie's, it is a normal accordion style wallet but a little smaller, I like the smaller wallets, they are easier to handle.

Verse of the Week

Hello my wonderful readers! So this week I have been concentrating on prayer. I am wanting to pray more and read my bible more as a New Years resolution so I am listening to sermons on praying and reading your bible and just in general on how to start out being more consistent in it. So this weeks verse is 1 Timothy 2:5 "For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," the mediator is Jesus. You can talk to God through Jesus and with the help of the Holy Spirit. When you accept Jesus you can just talk to God whenever and however you want, just like your talking to your dad. So this is what I am shooting to do, talk to God like I am talking to my dad. This was really just a big thing for me to hear someone say so I thought I would share it with you because I think it just makes it easier to pray in general if you think about it in that way. Hope it hits you just like it hit me. Loves.

Outfit of the Day - January 24, 2014

Hello my fabulous readers! My outfit of the day is from just going to work. I wore this to just work one day and be comfortable. 
 I have on a teal tank from Old Navy and a 3/4 sleeve red shirt from Khol's. I have on grey and black tights from Old Navy that have a floral print and my black Ugg boots. I have on my silver, gold and rose gold necklace from Top Shop with my rose gold watch from Charming Charlie's, small gold hoop earrings. 
I hope you loved my outfit this week, I did it was comfortable and good looking. Loves.

Wednesday Recipe - No-Egg Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Hello my starving readers! Today I am going to share with you a no-egg chocolate chip cookie dough recipe. I loved this. It's good to just eat (especially if your pregnant and don't want to eat raw egg), and with ice cream. It's so very simple. 
Ingredients: 
2 cups of flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt (not needed if you're using salted butter)
3/4 cup of melted butter (you can also use margarine)
1 cup of packed brown sugar
4 tablespoons milk 
Enough chocolate chips to make you feel good :-)
Directions:
1. Mix it all up 
2. Eat it with ice cream or not 
I put mine in a bag and froze it then I chop it up and put it in ice cream or break off a piece and eat it. It's so good. Loves.

Wine Tasting

Hello my wonderful readers. A couple weeks ago my husband, Aaron, and I went wine tasting with my parents in the Livermore Valley. We had so much fun! It was really the first time for both of us to go real wine tasting. We tasted so many different wines and got one bottle of some good stuff we tried. Here are a couple pictures of Aaron and I.

There was a little sun in our face in this picture but we were having fun. If you like wine I would recommend Crooked Vine Winery in Livermore to go taste, it was my favorite of the day. Loves.

Verse of the Week

Hello my wonderful readers. Today's verse of the week is one of my favorite verses in the whole bible and just makes me happy. The verse is Galatians 5:22-23, also known as the fruits of the spirit. 
"22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."
I love this verse because it just tells you straight up what you are suppose to be doing. You are suppose to be spreading these things: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. If everyone spread these things instead of bad things the world would be just a more pleasant place to live. I am going to try to live to do this more this year and spread all these things. I hope you will too. Loves.

Outfit of the Day - January 17, 2014

Hello my fabulous readers. I wore this outfit when we went wine tasting with my parents a week or so ago. So I have had an outfit of the day similar to this before, but I just love the combo of this rose gold sequin tank from Old Navy with this royal blue cardigan from Dress Barn. I have my gold and rose gold necklace on with my rose gold watch and ring. I have on a light pink under shirt that is also from Old Navy along with my dark blue skinny jeans. 

I wore my black and white plaid lace up Vans. I have natural makeup with my hair pulled back. Don't look half bad for being a little sick haha. Hope you love this combo too. Loves.

Wednesday Recipe - Potato Skins

Hello my hungry readers! So I found a pretty good recipe for potato skins so I thought I would share it with you. This is one of my husbands favorite things to eat. 
Ingredients: you can really use as many potatoes as you want, I used 5
grated cheddar cheese
4 slices of bacon, cooked and chopped up
1/4 of melted butter
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
2. After watching each potato cover them in canola oil and a little salt, and place on a baking sheet
3. Cook for 40 minutes
4. Cut each potato in half and scoop out the insides (I used mine to make mashed potatoes another night :-))
5. Brush the scooped out insides with melted butter
6. Bake for another 3-4 minutes until crispy
7. Fill each half with cheese and bacon pieces and any other toppings you like
8. Bake for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
Enjoy the deliciousness. These are good for appetizers, we had ours on New Year's Eve later in the night as a snack. Loves.

Verse of the Week

Hello my faithful readers. The verse this week has to do with the beginning of the year starting also just like last week. This weeks verse is about forgiveness.
"For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." Matthew 6:14-15. 
We should, I believe, start the year new with forgiving those who have wronged us and just starting out without that on our lives. If you forgive other people, God will forgive you for anything you have done wrong, which is the most wonderful thing ever. So when I say forgive those who have done wrong to you, I'm not saying you have to be their best friend after that, but forgiving them will make you feel better. There is one person that I have problems with but I have forgiven them and I just choose not to have them in my life anymore, I do feel better about the whole thing. If they are not good for you they shouldn't be in your life anyways. Loves.

Outfit of the Day - January 10, 2014

Hello my fabulous readers! This outfit was just to go have dinner with my family. I have a long green maxi dress on I think I got it at Kohl's. I have on a lavender Old Navy crew neck cardigan buttoned up because the maxi dress is very low cut. 

I went with natural makeup, half up hair and my new necklace and watch that are gold and rose gold.
I just threw on some plain brown flats to go with it. My husband and I had a wonderful time with my family. Hope you enjoy this. Loves.

Wednesday Recipe - Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hello my hungry readers! Today I thought I would share a classic recipe with you with a twist. I made regular chocolate chip cookies but I added some white chocolate chips as well, dipped some of them in chocolate and sprinkled peppermint chunks on them. All are yummy!
Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 2 sticks of butter softened, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, 3/4 cup packed brown sugar, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 2 large eggs, 2 cups of chocolate chips, 3-4 candy canes, 1 XL Hershey's milk chocolate bar
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven 375 degrees
2. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl.
3. Beat butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a large mixer bowl until creamy. 
4. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. 
5. Gradually beat in flour mixture. 
6. Stir in chocolate chips
7. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
8. bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown
9. Start melting the chocolate, put the chocolate in the top pan (put a little water in one pan, place burner on medium and place another pan inside of it that doesn't touch the bottom of the large pan) *if it does sit directly on the burner your chocolate WILL burn*
10. place some candy canes in a bag and smash them up and place them on a plate. 
11. when the cookies are done let them cool enough until you can pick them up, then dip the bottom of them into the chocolate and then onto the plate of peppermint.
These are so yummy! I hope you try them and loved this classic something sweet! Loves.

New Year's Resolutions

Hello my wonderful readers! So it is that time of the year when you make the New Year's resolution that you might and might not keep in the new year. Well 2014 I know will be better! I have a few things that I want to accomplish in the new year and I thought I would share them with you.
1. Lose Weight: I know this is the number one new year's resolution for everyone but I am not setting a non-realistic goal this year, I am going for 10-15 pounds off which I think is doable. 
2. Get a new Job: I work now at a job I like, but don't love. I would like to love my job and be appreciated for what I do. 
3. Start a Family: We are married now and want to start a family. So we are going to do what we can to start a family and do it the healthy way.
4. Be more consistent with my blog: I want to be more consistent with this blog and put more of me into it. Maybe start some more series' or just post a whole lot more. **You know if we get pregnant there will be a baby journey starting :-)**
5. Pay off our credit cards: We have 3 credit cards between the two of us and they are all pretty much maxed out going into the new year. My goal is to pay them off and maybe even close them and save some money, especially since we are planning on starting a family. 
6. Just be more positive and happy: This past year I have been up and down with being happy and my emotions, but in 2014 I want to be more positive and happy with life and what lies ahead for me and my husband both.
7. Read my Bible more: This is something that I put as my resolution every year. I start out the year good but never finish good. 
8. Read more books in general: I have realized that I watch way to much television. And I watch "trash" tv, like housewives, jersey shore and other crap. I am going to read all the books that I have bought and only read the first few pages. 
I am pledging to give all these resolutions all my efforts. I will share the journey with you for most of these and keep you updated on them all. Set yourself some goals! Loves.

Verse of the Week

Hello my wonderful readers. I decided I am going to start a new series in 2014, Verse of the Week. On Sundays I am going to post a bible verse of the week and what I believe that verse means. This weeks verse is going to be: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." 2 Corinthians 5:17. I wanted this weeks verse to reflect starting new because that is what we are doing this week. It is the first whole week of the new year and 2014 is going to be a good one. Start new, set your resolutions and actually follow through on them. Make sure you believe in you and in Christ and always turn to him and you will be made new and feel it too. I'm excited to start 2014 because there are going to be so many changes with our family and new starts and having Christ in our lives I know they will be great. Hope you enjoy this new series. Outfit of the Day - January 3, 2014

Hello my wonderful readers! Hope you all had a wonderful New Years! Happy 2014! Well a couple weeks ago we went on our first real date as a married couple and I thought I would show you what I wore, you already got a glimpse but here is the whole thing. I wore my sleeveless nude pink hi - low dress with the black polka dots and buttons that has elastic at the waist and a collar (from Ross). I chose my deep blue cardigan from the Dress Barn to wear with it. 

I chose my black bootie heels that I have had forever and can't remember where on Earth I got them from. Natural makeup with hair straight down and my pearls my wonderful husband gave me the night before I became his wife.

Wednesday Recipe - Meatloaf

Hello my hungry readers. This past week I made meatloaf and I have never had meatloaf and always thought that it looked awful haha. My husband likes it and I thought if I actually made it myself maybe it won't seem so bad. So I did and it was actually pretty tasty.
Ingredients:
Meatloaf:
1 cup milk, 6 bread slices, 2lbs ground beef, 1 cup of grated parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt, freshly ground black pepper, 1/4 to 1/2 cup minced flat-leaf parsley, 4 beaten eggs, 8-12 thin bacon slices
Tomato Gravy:
1 1/2 cups ketchup, 6 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 teaspoon dry mustard, dash or two of hot sauce
Directions:
1. preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. pour the milk over the bread and allow it to soak in for several minutes
3. place the ground beef, milk-soaked bread, parmesan cheese, salt, seasoned salt, black pepper, and parsley in a large mixing bowl
4. pour in the eggs
5. with clean hands, mix the ingredients until well combined 
6. form the mixture into a loaf shape on the broiler pan, which will allow the fat from the meat to drain
7. they suggest always line the bottom of the broiler pan with aluminum foil to avoid having to scrub later
8. Lay bacon slices over the top, tucking them underneath the meatloaf
9. next, make the tomato gravy, pour the ketchup into a small mixing bowl 
10. add the brown sugar and dry mustard and splash in the hot sauce (if you want more heat add more hot sauce)
11. stir the mixture until it is combined
12. pour 1/3 of the tomato gravy over the top of the meatloaf
13. bake for 45 minutes 
14. pour another 1/3 of the tomato gravy over the meatloaf
15. bake for another 15 minutes
16. serve with the remaining tomato gravy as dipping sauce on the side
I actually enjoyed this recipe from the pioneer woman. Loves. 

Goodbye 2013! Hello 2014!

Hello my amazing readers! 2013 was so good to us in the Thorsen home! I can't believe 2014 is already here, it's amazing how fast time flown by.

1. The number one thing is we got married! We became Mr. and Mrs. Thorsen, we waited for 2 years for this to happen and it finally came and it was amazing. I am so thankful for Aaron and having the privilege to become his wife forever and always.

2. Aaron got a new job. After he worked for a retail store for 2 years he was miserable and they paid him crap for what he did so after searching for 2 years for a new job, God dropped him the right place in a good 9-5 job and he loves it, is what the most important thing was. Also with the pay increase we were able to do some other stuff we wouldn't have been able to otherwise.




3. We also got to see 4 other couples become Mr. and Mrs. as well in our families. The first was my best friend, Mallory, became Mrs. Evers. The top left picture is her and her husband, Aaron with me and my Aaron haha. The second wedding we went to was Aaron's cousin, Tara, became Mrs. Murphy, I didn't get a picture of us there. The third wedding was another one of Aaron's cousins, Kathryn, she became Mrs. McNulty in Mt. Shasta, so we got to road trip there, that is the top right picture. The bottom picture was us at the last wedding, Aaron's other cousin, Brittney, became Mrs. Roadruck. I was blessed to be able to see all these wonderful people become Mr. and Mrs. just like us!



4. We reached 2 years together. We started dating December 17, 2011. We found each other and are so thankful for that! 

5. We cleaned out our whole house and garage. This was one thing after I moved in that I thought needed to be done and Aaron agreed. We can now get all of our stuff in a place where our house doesn't look crowded and we can get a motorcycle and 2 cars in the garage now with all of our stuff. 

6. Our niece turned 1 year old. Sophia turned one and is turning into a little girl with so much personality. I just can't believe she is one year old already. 

7. I posted so many more posts on my blog and was more regular with it. I posted 3 posts in 2011, 5 in 2012 but almost 160 in 2013. I feel like I accomplished so much with sticking with something for once and I will continue to love it and improve on it in 2014. 

There are many things that we have been blessed with during 2013 and we are so very thankful for all of them. Maybe 2014 will bring some more bundles of joy. Loves.
